Answering 911 is getting a lot of press in the rather small pond of 911 dispatchers and their professional training. The 911Trainer.com website featured Answering 911 in their Inpirational and Gift section, and gave this very nice review:
‘Do you want to represent this book?’ they asked. “I don’t know, send it to us and we’ll review it.” Got it, - could NOT put it down…Professional Pride is proud to represent this book that will remind you what it is to do the work you do so well. A wonderful present to yourself or others.
I’ll have to remember this when I’m needing some inspiration, too.

But they’re having trouble finding the right sort of person for the job. Perhaps reading Answering 911 will help, as suggested by this article annoucing new 911 Operator Training courses that are to be offered online. With my less than brief smattering of French, I’d not even be eligible!
More on this new course and a big link to my book here.

As part of her long-running bi-weekly program, Judith Anglin reviewed my book on the local radio station, KTKN AM930, on December 1st, 2006.
Should you find yourself at the Ketchican Library, that’d be in the Adult Nonfiction Collection. That’s item 384.64BURAU to you, mister.

My book, Answering 911, was chosen as one of the top 5 non-fiction books of 2006 by Terri Schlichenmeyer at the Quad City Register.
From the article:
Burau, a veteran of a Minnesota 911 call center, writes about her experiences working in the hot seat … the calls she’d just as soon forget and the ones she’ll always remember. This is another of those books you really don’t want to end.

The 2006 Minnesota Booksellers Association Catalog has my very first book, Answering 911, listed next to that year’s offering from Garrison Keillor! I know it’s just a catalogue, but it sure feels like the big time.

The Suburban Home Companion…hmmm…..

You know what the best thing about this interview is? She clearly read the book and wrote it herself — it’s heartfelt and well written. The journalist can totally appreciate that.

Perhaps it’s because there are so many Petersons (and Petersens) in Minnesota, but you can now buy my book in Norway, in several places, no less.
Save up your kroner and send ‘em here or here

In fact, it’s the entire introductory chapter of my book, as it appeared in the Mpls/St. Paul Magazine in 2006.
I am very grateful for the support of the local media, especially having been one of them just a few years ago.
Read it on their website.
